Job Opening: Kingdom Seneschal

Are you interested in the position of Kingdom Seneschal? I expect to be stepping down in December. To allow time for selection and training of my replacement we are now soliciting applicants.

The Kingdom Seneschal is the chief administrative officer and legal agent for the Kingdom of Calontir. The Seneschal acts as the Crown's advisor concerning legal matters and matters of interpretation of the Kingdom and Society rules. The Seneschal oversees the Branch Seneschals, and deputies such as the Chatelain, Reeve, Minister of Youth, Media Liaison, and the Lilies Committee Chair, and interfaces with other Kingdom Officers on a regular basis.

The duties of the Seneschal, require approximately 10-15 hours per week, outside of events, and the typical term is two years.

Applicants for the position must be at least 18 years old, a current member, and acceptable to the Crown and the Society Seneschal.

Applicants should posses:

  • A desire to have fun, and an ability to smile even when the job becomes less than fun
  • Solid communication skills, and regular e-mail and telephone access
  • A good understanding of the laws and traditions of Calontir and the Society
  • An ability to work with diverse Kingdom and Local Officers
  • Sufficient time and resources to travel regularly across the Kingdom
  • An ability to keep an open mind and examine the facts before handling situations
  • An ability to single-handedly slay dragons, build bridges, clear jungles, compose music, write legal arguments, besiege castles, recite from St. Augustine, Shakespeare or Theophilus on demand, rotate your tires, and bring Fernando tasty beverages on a regular basis. Okay, I�m just checking to see who reads this far.  This one is a joke � except for the tasty beverages part. :)
